Sarah Murdoch (Today)

What did you think of Sarah Murdoch as the new fill-in host of Today on Channel 9? Apparently lots more people than usual tuned in to see her first day.

Sarah will be on the show for the next seven weeks while regular host Jessica Rowe has a baby.

She stinks. Really stinks. I am yet to hear something intelligent come out of her mouth. She’s always interrupting Carl and making silly comments. She can’t read properly.
Sorry Sarah but I don’t like watching you in the morning.

  • Anonymous

Sorry Sarah, You seem really nice but this gig is just not for you. I cring everytime you speak – you look nervous, appear inexperienced, don’t show a relaxed, confident personality. I believe its only a matter of time for you in this job.

  • Tracy

I like Sarah,i think she is doing a great job!I think she is doing a better job than Jessica(sorry Jessica).I’m watching the show more now.Would be great if she could take over the job full time.

  • Don T

I think Sarah is sensational and she is responsible for me returning to watching the Today Show in the mornings. Keep her on.

While pretty to look at and making a good effort, she seems a bit too contrived. And the high-pitched voice is a bit grating after a while.

Really ,does this lady need to do this job, is she looking for notoriety or does she need the money, I’m sure there are many others out there who need this type of work, more than her, fare go , there are many ladies who need a job like this to get ahead, isn’t she there yet ?……….. but I suppose the bright side of this is, at least someone is getting paid to mind her children, while she does this !

i really love listening to a multi millionaire who’s married to a multi millionare attempt to assuage everyday people of their financial misery and hardship with heartfelt “mmm’s ” and “yaaiir’s”
and i really like the stilted, heart in mouth approach to ad libbing an autocue
that impression she does of a deer caught in the headlights is a good one , what an actress , she really belongs on the television.
and i really believe that if you’re a television executive completely devoid of any new ideas , you can just stick a pretty face on tv (in a position that more foolish people believe belongs to a credible news person )and the public will come running to watch … and you know why , because we were told that is what we’d do.
good on you tv execs, you know whats best for us.

It is wonderful what envy can bring out in people. Sarah, you are just fine. You read very well, not over the top and I think you show just the right amount of whit to add humour for a morning show. You are relaxed and happy….and we all know how wealthy you are…who cares?! It does not mean that you can’t relate to peoples’ problems with sympathy. I am just sorry that I moved from Sydney before you would have been a welcome neighbour in the Bronte Park! Just keep going, you are doing a really good job, you should be proud of yourself.

It’s quite amazing how critical people can be. Anyone would need some time adjusting to a new role – with or without the added pressure of the public making judgements. Her personal financial position should not come into the equation. I think she’s doing a wonderful job and is showing that she is down-to-earth and caring. That she doesnt need a job is completely irrelevant. Neither does she need to do all the “unpaid” work she does in the community for Breast Cancer etc. Well done, Sarah. You are doing a great job.

  • The Munstar

It has been such a delight to arise each day to the image of this magnificent specimen of the quintessential Australian woman. Like the vast majority of Australians, I believe Sarah has it all – indeed she is complete in every way and I would consider her to be a national treasure. She’s clearly a beautiful person who is bright, articulate, compassionate, forthright and interested in her world. Her contribution to Australia has been enormous and I’m sure that every fair minded person in this country is thankful that we have been given the chance to share a little more of her time and her presence. I just hope she enjoys those many smiles she creates each day.

    Sarah your LUSH

Sarah is wonderful. I started watching ‘Today’ because of her and I really hope that they keep her on.

The best thing I can say about Sarah is that she isn’t Jessica. Jessica is not really coming back to the show is she? If so, that’s it, I won’t be watching anymore. Makes me want to throw something at the tv she is so irritating and we’ll have baby talk ad nauseum to make us warm towards her. No it won’t. Sarah is OK but not suitable for the job. A billionaire’s wife couldn’t give a stuff about the usual suburban issues of the day.

  • Don’t Bring Back Jessica

She may not be doing the best job at the moment. But that should be expected, she’s still new to the job. At least she’s not over opinionated and doesn’t force her opinions on everyone like Jessica Rowe does. They shouldn’t bring Jessica back, she sucks.

  • Steve

I hope they keep you on Sarah. You have grown into the job, and have definitely made me a permanent viewer…………….

Sarah, your less interesting than watching paint dry. Sure Australian media is rapidly devolving especially TV but please, spare us the “Face” with a “Name” and calling it ? Stick with your charity work after all you i’m sure it’s within your budget to not have to do a job someone else is actually qualified to do.

  • Regularviewer

Sarah, take no notice of the vicious knockers. If you can get Carl’s mind off himself for even a few minutes, you will have my vote. Although, I wish you would give him a good slap now and again.

Is there a website we can post complaints about Jessica returning to the show? She sounds like a pain, looks like a pain with that stupid hairdo. This has nothing to do with Sarah but she’s a non-irritating replacement. And why is that fat Symantha Perkins always expounding theories on everything? She’s not qualified to do so. What’s with the wanky spelling? She calls herself “Sam” and it’s “symantha”. Either keep Sarah on or get someone else and tell Jessica to stay home.

    Hi,
Just a short question about rainwater tanks. It is my belief that just about all the rebate from N.S.W. gov. goes in council fees and permits oad the stipulation that it has to be fitted by a registed plumber. So in actual fact the rebate just dissapears in fees.

    Thanks Bruce

who cares if she needs this job, thik of the people she can help and touch,do you need to do what your doing???????????????

To the last 6 emailers (or is one?), why bother when you are so obviously illerate, undeducated, can’t spell and can’t speak English.

  • Null & Void Sarah

Sarah is lovely, sweet & pretty and yes her contribution to any charitable compaign she gets involved with has been & will be successful.
But, journalist and impromptu speaker she is not!
Honestly I want to like her because she is so sweet and cute – but she needs to contribute more to the show, notice how Karl sits in on all of her interviews and rescues the show from awkward silences.
And Karl and the other males are suffering on the show, they can’t help but get all giddy around her and quite often the show is reduced to innuendo & flirty jokes.

    I say bring Jess back.

  • Anonymous

All true of the above, but don’t bring Jessica back. She annoys the living tripe out of everyone I know.

  • Bob Bell

Jessica may be a nice person in the real world, but on tv I loathed her style, both earlier on TEN News, and recently on the TODAY Show. Sarah Murdoch is competent, not afraid to ask sensible questions of guests, doesn’t force opinions, and looks comfortable in the TODAY role, and I for one would like to see her retained. My biggest fear is that Jessica will return soon and like someone else above correctly said, it will then be “baby talk” each morning ad-nauseum. (It will take much more than baby talk to get me to warm to your appearances Jessica.) I will return to SEVEN SUNRISE if that eventuality happens.

    sarah murdoch
i think you should take elugcation lessons and even having been a model you look so uncomfortable when you speak just learn a few tricksof the trade

Why can’t Sarah stay on? She’s done a good job and people like her. Channel 9 cannot be serious about bringing Jessica back. Why? People just don’t want her and they don’t want to look at her every morning. More viewers will desert in droves to Sunrise. I’ve watched Today for years but if Jessica’s back, that’s it. Eddie, please, get someone else.

  • Anonymous

she is so sweet and seems genuine, but comes across alittle dull and also, who is her stylist??? I am no style queen, but this girl is gorgeous and is dressing like a nanna!

  • Anonymous

yeah i cant stand surise but i will if we have to put up with jess she just says stupid things and sarah is just more aperling to a wider rang of people that jessica. PLEASE DONT BRING HER BACK!!!!

I have recently tuned into the TODAY show after noticing and having heard from various sources as to what a difference it has made to Today by having Sarah on board.

I will continue to tune in each morning from here on . Only if Sarah remains as their host.

I agree with the comments made about Jessica.
She is just so fake ! urrgh!
She was the only reason why I continued to tune in to 7 each morning and put up with Mel and Koshi.

Seven have their own work to do in relation to giving Mel the boot!
She as well as Jessica are not right!

Congratulations Sarah and continue with the fantastic work you are doing.
Viewers should STOP taking a stab at you , your personal life and financial status!
Its all about you empowering your self further by trying something different. It shows that you are doing what you enjoy doing and what you are evidently very good at !

    G :)

Yeah, I’ve been watching sunrise for a year now since I dont find today that intereseting until sarah came along. I agree with some of the comments that she is dull or something like that. But it suits her personality and that brongs viewers to switch to Today show. Hopefully she’ll be back soon or be part of Today in the near future.

Just as she was warming up! Does it really have to end? Not without a fight…

I’m really glad Sarah has gone from the show. I’ve had to put up with her pathetic TV style for too long. She sits there all pretty and Karl does ALL the work!! She never adds anything of an substance to any interview. It really irks me that a model, who hasn’t had ANY media training manages to host such top breakfast show. I’m sure people out there who HAVE done all the hard yards at uni or media school, miss out on job opportunities because of a have been model!!!

I find it surprising that so many people did not seem to like Sarah. She is actually very well educated, majoring in History and Literature at New York University. It may have taken her a little time to settle in however if you look at most people, many of us are uncomfortable in the first few weeks of a new job, including Karl. Karl is stiff, arrogant and opinionated. It was finally pleasure to watch someone else aside from Mel, Kochie, Nat and Mark who constantly shares in jokes and laugh at things that aren’t even funny to a point they can’t continue; Mel’s fake smile is enough to make me switch the channel when ever I take a look. Monique the weatherwoman can’t hold a basic conversation; I don’t hear anyone complaining about that. Well done Sarah, I enjoyed watching you each morning and I was sad to see you go.

    I made the switch!

But it didn’t take long before I grew sick and tired of the continuous banter between, “Mel, Kochie, Berrets & Nat.”

I,instead of putting up with the crap being presented on TV, turned on the radio.

However of recent times, when I do turn on the TV in the morning, I have quite enjoyed watching Karl, Sarah and yes Jessica I think she is pretty good too.

    Cheers
    Aaron

I base these views partly on the success of a comparable approach to making models generally available in cognitive modeling (Google for “ACT-R cognitive architecture” for more details.) Good luck!

I’ve basically been doing nothing worth mentioning. Not much on my mind to speak of. Not that it matters. More or less nothing seems important.

Hi, just popped in here through a random link. Hi, firstly I’d like to say your site is great and very impressive. Enjoyed the reading.

Not much on my mind. Oh well. Basically not much notable going on today.

I feel like a fog. My life’s been really boring today. I haven’t been up to much.

  • Peter@Rocky

Bring her back !!! Sarah ruled !!….. and she was starting to be the dominant (but pleasant) personality, keeping Karl on a leash. They were a good team. Since she left I haven’t watched.

How dare you judge a person by what they look like. What is with the “fat” comment. You may not feel that Symantha Perkins was the best person for the job, but why do you have to be judged by what you look like? Bring on radio so that biggots like you won’t feel ashamed of themselves by not having to look at “FAT” people.
