LIVE KICK-OFF FROM EDEN PARK, AUCKLAND
The Qantas Wallabies taking on their Trans-Tasman rivals, the All Blacks, for the second match in the Tri Nations series for 2008.
It’s Test two of a four-match Bledisloe Cup encounter live from Auckland and the Wallabies will be hoping to overcome their Eden Park hoodoo and snatch a victory.
The Bledisloe Cup is the ultimate symbol of Trans-Tasman rivalry. This famous and very large Bledisloe Cup was first contested in 1931 when the then Governor-General of New Zealand, Lord Bledisloe, presented the cup as a perpetual rugby trophy and a token of good will between Australia and New Zealand.
Since then it has been variously contested as a single Test match or as a two or three Test series. With the establishment of the Tri Nations series in 1995, it became a fixed two match series played on a home and away basis. In 2006, it was expanded back to a three match series, as part of an expanded Tri Nations series. With the Rugby World Cup in 2007, it was shortened to be contested over two matches but in 2008, the Bledisloe Cup encounter will see the Wallabies meet the All Blacks four times. The series will extend to Asia this year with a fourth Test to be in played in Hong Kong in November.
Kick off for the test is at 5.30pm AEST.
The coverage, which will begin with a pre-game show at 5:00pm, will be hosted by MATTHEW WHITE, with expert commentary from GORDON BRAY, DAN CROWLEY and TIM HORAN.
PLEASE NOTE: Screening at this time in Sydney and Brisbane only.
