Top 8 Performance and Results Show

8.30pm WEDNESDAY / AUGUST 27

Tonight the best of the best dancers are on display as the Top 8 battle it out for the title of America’s Favourite Dancer.

Courtney, Will, Mark, Chelsie, Joshua, Katee, Twitch and Comfort are paired with new dance partners and compete as new couples. This doesn’t rattle the dancers as they embrace their new partnerships and all perform breathtaking routines.

Along with two couple routines, each dancer must perform a solo. With so many amazing dancers in the running for the top prize, this is going to be a fight to the finish!

Although the judges still critique the dancers, only America’s votes will determine who continues in the competition, so it’s important that the dancers show technical ability as well as personality.

The routine’s span Samba, Hip Hop, Fox Trot and Disco with technically challenging and passionate choreography.

The performances captivate the judges – Nigel Lythgoe says of Will and Courtney’s Hip Hop routine “This is the first time Hip Hop has affected emotions for me, and of Katee’s solo: “You light up the whole world when you dance.” Will the American public agree?

The results show then follows and after a surprising results show last week, where Kherington and Gev were eliminated, the Top 8 dancers know that anyone of their dreams may be over tonight. Who will it be? It’s impossible to
pick it.

Hip Hop artist LL Cool J performs before host Cat Deeley announces the results. The judges and the American public are devastated when one of the dancers tipped to win the competition is eliminated.

I have lost all faith in a show that has done so much for the dancing industry. Will’s dancing is sheer poetry on the stage and the person I saw as being crowned ‘ America’s Best Dancer’. Obviously America got it wrong as the show now has a void which none of the other dancers can fill. A very sad day indeed when neither of the bottom two male dancers should have been standing where they were.
