As Martin and Julie party away at home one night, Gran quietly drinks herself into a coma and ends up in hospital. Put to shame by health workers who threaten action, Martin and Julie take stock of their own physical state.
After cricking his back during a wild drunken dance, Martin decides they cannot afford to risk their health with drinking binges and he takes up a whole new lifestyle.
He even shrinks off his English reticence and tells people how he really feels about them – including their bemused friends Duncan and Sarah. Julie looks on as he manages to alienate them and everyone else to whom he declares his love.
