7TWO on Prime is now on the air – digital channel 62 – in Prime’s coverage area of regional NSW, VIC and ACT.
7TWO comes to Prime 7 weeks after it began on channel 72 in the five major capital cities. That means that Prime viewers will have missed out on episodes of shows like Heroes, Ugly Betty and Stagate Atlantis all of which have been running on 7TWO since it launched November 1.
7TWO on Prime is a direct feed from Seven. There are no changes to the ads (although this may change during prime time), and no changes to station promos. Those familiar with Seven and 7TWO would know that the two channel cross promote each other. That means that viewers of 7TWO on Prime will see ads that say “tonight on 7” instead of seeing “tonight on Prime”.
The only difference between 7TWO on Prime on channel 62 and 7TWO in the cities on channel 72 is that there is a big ugly orange 7TWO PRIME logo in the top right hand corner. That, of course, is in addition to the regular 7TWO watermark down in the bottom left hand corner.
The 7TWO PRIME orange logo is a permanent fixture that remains even during the ads! Hopefully, in time they will fade it to a watermark or simply put the word PRIME under the existing 7TWO watermark.
At least it is on though. Many viewers will be happy. But if you live in one of those overlapping areas where you can get both regional and capital city television (Central Coast, Gold Coast for example), stick to 7TWO on 72 to avoid the big orange logo on 7TWO on Prime on channel 62.
