First Tuesday Book Club Series Premiere

First Tuesday Book Club gathers Australian booklovers together on a monthly basis, giving reading a shot in the arm on the first Tuesday of each month. Debating the merits of this month’s two books is host Jennifer Byrne, with book club regulars Marieke Hardy and Jason Steger plus Peter Garrett and Mem Fox.

This month’s books are: Zeitoun by Dave Eggers When Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans in 2005, one of the residents who chose to stay and protect his house and business was a Syrian-American father of four, Abdulrahman Zeitoun.

Cloudstreet by Tim Winton Cloudstreet traces the fortunes and misfortunes of two rural families who move to Perth and struggle to rebuild their lives after being touched by disaster.
