Australians celebrated the return of Jessica Watson yesterday with huge numbers around Sydney Harbour and the Opera House and nationally on television with “Jessica Watson: The Homecoming Live” averaging 442,000 viewers across ONE and TEN from 11am until 4.15pm.
Network Ten’s general manager sport, David White said: “Saturday was a spectacular finish to an amazing feat by a very special young lady and we have been delighted to be involved in her journey since day one and glad that so many Australians were able to share the moment through our broadcasts on TEN and ONE.”
Network Ten has the first major one on one television interview with Jessica since her return. At 6pm tonight Bill Woods hosts “Jessica Watson: Sailing into History.” The official and exclusive documentary of her trip is currently being produced to air on ONE.
Jessica will appear on TEN’s The 7PM Project with fellow round the world sailor Jessie Martin Monday night and be an in studio guest on ONE’s Thursday Night Live this week.
