Underbelly: The Golden Mile: Women In Uniform

8:30pm – Sunday, May 16 on Channel Nine

Probationary Constable Wendy Jones, an eager new recruit on the Kings Cross beat, crosses paths with nightclub owner John Ibrahim. The attraction is instant and mutual. The two go on a scuba-diving trip together where Wendy starts to have second thoughts about the prudence of their friendship.

Debbie Webb is not one to sit idly. Although her friendship with fellow whistleblower Michael Drury offers some amusement, being second-in charge of the useless ‘Gotcha Cars’ taskforce is a living hell.

Debbie’s career as a cop is off the rails and she sinks further into alcoholism.

Continuing her infatuation with police officers, Kim Hollingsworth strikes up an instant rapport with the vulnerable Debbie Webb and escapes into a world of dance to escape the reality of her purgatory in prostitution.

Still plotting for the Commissioner’s post, Dennis Kelly joins the National Crime Authority to ‘jazz-up’ his resume. But despite outward appearances, he hasn’t truly banished his dodgy ways, quickly abusing his privileges in order to dig dirt on rival Sid Hiller.

This prompts an investigation by Chief Inspector Gerry Lloyd into Dennis’s own financial records. Gerry discovers assets incongruous for a Chief Inspector’s salary and while she can’t prove that he’s corrupt, she promptly boots him out of the NCA and back to the NSW Police.
