In the biggest week of challenges ever seen on MasterChef Australia, the team head for the great City of London. From a once in a lifetime opportunity to see Jamie Oliver in action, an audience with one of UK’s most famous chef Heston Blumenthal, to an afternoon tea inspired by the Crown Jewels, plus a chance to cook a medieval feast within a historical castle, the contestants are blown away by what this city has to offer.
SUNDAY, JUNE 20 – Series 2, Episode 54
(1,5 hour special)
The contestants arrive at the MasterChef Kitchen for their Mystery Box Challenge, but instead of finding ingredients they find miniature models of London landmarks and it is revealed they are off to London for a week of challenges. Arriving in London, it’s soon time for the first challenge. The contestants must cook intricate pastries based on The Langham Hotel’s Crown Jewel inspired afternoon tea.
The reward is an exclusive masterclass with Jamie Oliver plus a trip to the prestigious Top 50 Restaurant in the World Awards, allowing the contestants a chance to meet their food heroes.
MONDAY, JUNE 21 – Series 2, Episode 55
The contestants travel to a Castle where a historical challenge awaits them. Under the guidance of one of the UK’s most revered Chefs of the moment, Heston Blumenthal, the contestants must work in pairs to cook a dish that will form part of a four course Medieval Feast.
TUESDAY, JUNE 22 – Series 2, Episode 56
One contestant faces off against Michelin starred chef Martin Blunos to cook a traditional British dish – egg and soldiers. The twist is that instead of a boiled egg, it is a sweet egg and instead of toast, the soldiers are made out of mango and cream.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 23 – Series 2, Episode 57
It’s the biggest challenge that MasterChef Australia has ever seen. Starting in London, the contestants must make their way to Europe and into Paris for the ultimate superchallenge.
Racing around the beautiful city of Paris, they must shop at the markets and get back to the kitchen to cook a two course French feast. This kitchen is like no other they’ve cooked in before, and will leave the contestants speechless.
The winning pair of contestants will receive a reward lunch but for the losing pair, a pressure test and the chance of elimination.
THURSDAY, JUNE 24 – Series 2, Episode 58
The losing team from the super challenge must cook a dish in the restaurant of Australia’s first two Michelin Stared Chef, Brett Graham. One contestant will return to Australia and leave MasterChef for good.
FRIDAY, JUNE 25 – Series 2, Episode 59
Gary’s rhubarb and blackberry crumble soufflé is on the menu tonight. Meanwhile George whips up Scallop Loukoumades, and the pair join forces to produce Char Sui Salmon with Winter Melon, wood mushrooms and ginger.
