Several years ago, two doctors strug- gled to realise their dream of owning a hospital. In order to secure financing, they were forced to turn to a friend – an entrepreneur and the son of a renowned mob boss. In his own desire to become an honest businessman, their friend convinced a group of retired mobsters to invest in the endeavor. The plan worked beautifully, until a mid-level government official with the Department of Health and Human Re- sources came to pay a visit. As it turns out, the doctors had been overcharging their patients for routine procedures. After a period of blackmailing, the gov- ernment official dies in an ‘accident’ that Detectives Nichols and Stevens believe to be murder.
