Eastern State Regional Areas to get GEM at same time as the Cities.

Nine’s new channel GEM will be available to regional areas in the eastern mainland states as well as Tasmania at the same time as the five cities.

Regional NSW and QLD who get their Nine content through NBN, regional southern NSW, ACT and Victoria who see their Nine content through WIN as well as viewers in Tasmania will all see GEM from when transmissions start at Midday September 24 – the same viewers in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide. Brisbane and Perth will see the channel.

Viewers in Darwin will have to wait a little longer, with the channel not hitting the Top End until October 4.

Withe the exception of Darwin and Tasmania, GEM will be on par with 7mate for regional reach from day one. 7mate in regional NSW and VIC will be seen through PRIME, while Queenslanders will see 7mate through 7QLD.

As for the rest of Australia – including some areas that are only just receiving channel Ten for the first time, let alone all the new digital channels – it will be a matter of waiting for the infrastructure to catch up.
