You can tell the free to air audience was lower than usual last night or perhaps more fragmented with only two non-news shows making it over a million Bondi Vet with 1,084,000 and Getaway at 1,020,000. Just about everything was down on previous week figures.
At 7pm, ABC News made it over a million, with 7pm on Ten second at 898,000. Nine’s Two hundred and a Half Men repeat did 886,000, while Seven’s Home and Away managed a low 877,000 – way down on the million it should be getting.
At 7,30, Bondi Vet just outdid Getaway, while Recruits fell below Getaways figure from 8pm. On Seven, AFL Game Day Prime time scored less than the 7.30 Report and 4th in its timeslot in its main market of Melbourne, while in NRL markets, the Matty Johns Show was short of 400,000.
At 8.30, it’s the battle of the Aussie crime drama with Cops LAC and Rush locked together at 787,000 and 776,000 respectively. Seven were close behind with World’s Strictest Parents at 756,000. ABC1 was next with their 9/11 special pulling 575,000, while SBS ONE’s most watched show of the night Heston’s Feasts did 490,000. Not that far behind was the double episode of Big Bang Theory on GO at 396,000 for the 9pm episode and 348,000 for the 8.30 ep. ABC2 is up there as well with the Gruen transfer repeat reaching 245,000 – one of the highest figures for a show on ABC2 ever.
The 8.30 hour alone shows how spread out the audience is at 8.30 and the reason why no single show can pull a million in this sort of environment unless it is something that really stands out. Nine easily wins the night in both main channel and network shares, with GO reaching 6.2%. 7TWO was high at 3.8% and ABC2 had one of its highest shares at 2.6%.
