8:30pm – Saturday, September 18 on ABC2
Saturday, 18 September 2010 Mafia members Frank and Vince are two brothers caught in the trap of a family committed to the criminal ethic: this family is known as The Brotherhood.
Frank is the oldest of a family of Sicilians who settled in the United States following the immigration flow of the late 1800s.
Frank has for Vince, all the patriarchal attitude and affection that their farther once had for him. Since the death of their father, Frank has taken upon himself the moral and ethical responsibility of what is left of the traditions of the old Mafia.
Frank is deeply entrenched in the old traditions and finds it difficult to make adjustment with the new group of leaders; whose only dictate for action is the total of bank balances.
Vince, however, has no heritage of tradition, and cannot understand Frank’s penchant for things done in the old way. Caught in this dilemma which is driven by the irrevocable consequences of their separate views, they are soon beset by the furies of the hell they, themselves, have created.
Directed by Martin Ritt, The Brotherhood stars Kirk Douglas and Alex Cord.
