11:00am – Sunday, September 5 on ABC2
Waybuloo transports children into a magical land called Nara – a world inhabited by adorable animated characters called Piplings. Taking a completely original approach, Waybuloo focuses on children’s feelings, and the Piplings embody a range of emotions including love, wisdom, happiness and harmony – all in search of ‘Waybuloo’.
In each episode, six children visit Nara to play with the Piplings and explore their land, as real life interacts with the animated world, showing that every child can visit Nara and find their own ‘Waybuloo’.
When a Pipling is truly happy, does something good, or makes someone feel better they achieve ‘buloo’ – a warm feeling of emotional harmony that is experienced by Piplings as floating.
There are four Piplings. Lau Lau is rabbit-like and her key characteristic is her imagination, Yo Jojo is monkey-like and represents happiness, De Li is kitten-like and represents love and Nok Tok is bear-like and represents wisdom.
Episode 51: Magical Music- Sunday 5th September at 11am Lau Lau dances to some beautiful music until it’s time for Yogo. But afterwards, the music has disappeared and this saddens Lau Lau. The other Piplings try to emulate the sounds she has heard but, nice as their music is, it just isn’t what she heard earlier. It’s not until the children arrive and a gentle breeze picks up again that Lau Lau hears the music she loves so much.
Together with the children, the Piplings discover the source of Lau Lau’s beautiful music.
Episode 52: A Surprise For Yo Jojo- Monday 6th September at 11am Yo Jojo accidently breaks one of his drums and Nok Tok decides to secretly repair it. Adding to the surprise, the others resolve to brighten up Yo Jojo’s whole stage area too. But all this requires leaving Yo Jojo out for a while. Not knowing what’s going on, Yo Jojo worries that his friends don’t seem to like him anymore. When the children arrive, the other Piplings tell them about the surprise and get them to distract Yo Jojo for a while which makes him feel better.
Eventually the surprise is revealed and Yo Jojo discovers what’s been going on. His friends do like him after all – in fact they’re the best friends a Pipling could have!
