After a week of high drama, and going missing for nearly 24 hours and retreating to a cave, Altiyan Childs was again the highlight of tonight’s show.
Judge Kyle Sandilands has made fun of Altiyan in the past, but tonight declared ‘this show has pretty kids who can sing, but you are the star’.Judges Guy Sebastian, Natalie Imbruglia agreed, much to the delight of Altiyan’s mentor Ronan Keating.
On a night of blockbuster movie themes anthems the contestants upped the ante. The last man standing in Ronan’s Over 25s category, Altiyan, backed up his rock-star magic with Eye of the Tiger from Rocky. In the Groups category, Mahogany took on Say A Little Prayer from My Best Friend’s Wedding and Luke and Joel had the mammoth Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing from Armegeddon.
For the Under 25 Boys, Andrew found his groove with Love is All Around from Four Weddings and a Funeral.
In the Under 25 Girls, India-Rose opened the show with the movie classic Fame; Sally performed the Bridget Jones Diary ballad All By Myself and Hayley connected with Queen of the Night from The Bodyguard.
Now, it’s up to the Australian public to help decide who gets through to the next live show.
Tonight, the two lowest ranked performers will have to take to the stage once again, to perform a new song. Then, the judges decide who stays and who departs the competition.
No-one wants to leave the competition and miss out on the chance to win the recording contract with Sony Music Australia.
THE X FACTOR continues on Seven tonight at 7.30pm with special performances from Kasey Chambers and Stan Walker.
