The third season of the Mentalist comes to Nine at 8.30pm, Monday October 25.
But, thanks to GEM, you cannot watch it in HD at that time.
Thankfully – in a move I hope happens more often with GEM and even 7mate – GEM is playing an encore of The Mentalist at 11pm that night, Monday October 25.
The 11pm encore on GEM, means you will be able to see The Mentalist in HD, if you don’t mind waiting until later. For those of us who don’t watch anything live, and prefer to watch whatever possible in HD, the 11pm encore on GEM will be the preferred option, over the 8.30 main channel standard definition airing.
Even though GEM is pitching itself towards women over 35 and the groceries buyers demographic, it would be a good idea to have HD encores more often. Nine have many shows that overlap that target demographic such as The Block, RPA and Cops LAC to name a few which should have HD replays or encores on GEM.
It would be good if they could do the same for Top Gear and Top Gear Australia, considering promos for Top Gear months ago pushed the fact the show was in HD. But, thanks to GEM’s target market, seeing any Top Gear in HD on free to air TV is not likely in the near future.
