THE COMEDY CHANNEL today announced it has commissioned 15 episodes of Statesmen of Comedy hosted by Trevor Marmalade and produced by McGuire Media.
Statesmen of Comedy will mark Marmalade’s comeback to mainstream Australian television and with him he brings some of the biggest names in comedy including Glenn Robbins, Jane Kennedy, Shane Bourne, Greg Fleet, Peter Rowsthorn, Rachel Berger, Tim Smith, Anthony Morgan and Jason Stephens among others.
“This is the sort of show I’ve always wanted to do,” Trevor Marmalade said. The best thing about being a comic is that you get to hang around with other comedians. For years we’ve sat around lounge rooms and restaurants having a laugh together and always said it should be a show. Thanks to FOXTEL and THE COMEDY CHANNEL now it is!”
The 15 x 30 minute series will screen exclusively on THE COMEDY CHANNEL from Sunday December 5, at 8.30pm, as part of Aussie Gold.
Returning hot off the satellite in December is Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, exclusive to THE COMEDY CHANNEL. To celebrate Jimmy’s return to the channel on December 7, at 10.30pm, THE COMEDY CHANNEL will be re-branded the Jimmy Channel for one night only.
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon made its broadcast debut in March 2009. A former Saturday Night Live regular, he became the third host of the NBC comedy-talk franchise taking over the Late Night legacy begun by David Letterman and Conan O’Brien. The show serves as a platform for comedy, music and A-list talent out of NBC’s Rockefeller Centre, New York.
Also, from December 5 on THE COMEDY CHANNEL is the subscription television premiere of one of the biggest and sharpest TV hits of recent times Modern Family. The brilliant mockumentary Modern Family follows the families of Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill), his daughter Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen), and his son Mitchell Pritchett (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) who live in Los Angeles. Double episodes will screen Sundays at 7.30pm.
THE COMEDY CHANNEL Manager Alex Ristevski said “We are thrilled to have Trevor and Co., Jimmy and Modern Family on board in December and especially pleased to be adding exclusive first run content to our programming slate.”
