Nothing like wrapping up Australia day with some sport – cricket and tennis dominate the ratings last night – Seven and Nine leaving Ten and the rest for dead.
And in an indication of what will happen to digital channel shares once normal programming resume on main channels, all digital channels are way down on their summer highs other than 7TWO which was by far the strongest of the night.
At over 1 million viewers, despite airing after 10pm in eastern daylight saving areas, Lethal Weapon 4 would have to be the most watched free to air movie for some time – well, so it appears. In reality, the cricket overrun keeps the ratings high, the movie itself is likely to be adjusted down somewhat. The peak viewing for one day cricket is usually the last hour when the run chase makes for exciting viewing.
