The great conflict solving mechanism known as the encore will come into play again with the Biggest Loser Families.

An encore of the first show will air at 3pm, Wed Feb 2. There will also be encores of the remaining episodes of the week as per the following:

First aired / encored

Wed Feb 2, 7.30pm / Thur Feb 3, 3.00pm
Thur Feb 3, 7.30pm / Fri Feb 4, 3.00pm
Fri Feb 4, 7.30pm / Sun Feb 6, 3.30pm

Encores will also continue for the second week of the show, where the Friday episode can also be seen  Saturday Feb 12. Times vary by the market. Check guides closer to the day.

The true reason behind encores is to expose how shows to as many people as possible. Sometimes, when numerous new shows start at once over a number of channels, viewers will chose the shows they want to watch on the night, leaving out shows they may have also liked. An encore gives the viewer a chance to try a show at a different time to see what they think. The ultimate aim, is to convince the viewer to then watch the show in prime time instead, once the encores stop airing – thereby wooing them over from a show on another channel.

Although – now with 15 free to air channels to chose from, an encore or second airing of a show – like what pay TV do – can help avoid recording and viewing conflicts, thereby giving viewers a better chance to chose what they would like to watch over other times than just prime time.
