Over $10m raised by Nine's Flood Relief Appeal last night

Last night the biggest names in Australian entertainment and sport came together to raise money for victims of the most devastating floods in Queensland’s history.

More than 200,000 people have been affected, entire towns have been evacuated and many others remain cut off from supplies. At this stage the damage bill is predicted to run into billions of dollars and the situation is still worsening in some areas.

In true Australian spirit, Aussies have dug deep and during Nine’s Flood Relief Appeal – Australia Unites which aired live around Australia on the Nine and WIN Networks, over $10 million was raised to help those in need to start rebuilding their lives.

The telethon was hosted by Nine’s Eddie McGuire, Leila McKinnon and Karl Stefanovic live from Brisbane’s Suncorp Piazza crossing live to the areas worst hit by the floods – Liz Hayes in St George, Michael Usher in Maryborough, Peter Harvey in Rockhampton, Ben Fordham in Condamine and Sarah Harris in Emerald.

Allison Langdon was in the flood relief call centre along with Queenslanders Natalie Gruzlewski and Ian Healy who kept viewers informed on the tally. A host of famous faces including Lisa McCune, Ian Stenlake, Les Hill, Catriona Rowntree, Shelley Craft, Gigi Edgley, Peter Phelps, Katherine Hicks, Paul Vautin, Ken Sutcliffe, Brad Fittler, Steve Jacobs, Mark Vincent, Carl Baron, Akmal Saleh, Wendell Sailor, Emma Freedman, Kevin Rudd and Therese Rein, just to name a few, supported the appeal by manning the phones to take donations.

Viewers were entertained by performances from Tina Arena, Jessica Mauboy, David Campbell, Altiyan Childs, Lee Kernaghan, Kasey Chambers and Troy Cassar-Daley.
