Channel Nine will stick with embattled comedian Ben Elton despite seeing a drop in ratings from last week.
A paltry 384,000 viewers tuned in to Elton’s second instalment of Live From Planet Earth on Tuesday night, shedding 70,000 from its debut.
Media analyst Steven Allen has shown his surpise at the network’s willingness to stick with the series.
“I am stunned there wasn’t a press release out yesterday at 9.30am announcing its axing,” Allen said.
“He (Elton) isn’t funny. We have seen it all before.”
But Nine said it would continue to support both local and international comedy.
”Like everyone involved, of course I’m disappointed with the ratings for Ben’s show, but certainly not the energy and talent he and his team is putting into it,” Nine chief executive David Gyngell said.
