In claiming the coveted Project Runway hosting job, it appears Megan Gale had to beat out a strong contender in Jennifer Hawkins.
Foxtel has confirmed that they were approached by Hawkins’s agent before they signed Gale.
“We did say no to Jennifer. We were approached by her management and felt she wasn’t right,” a spokesman for the network said.
Fremantle Media, who produce the show, said that they felt Hawkins was to synonymous with the Seven Network and that Gale has a “bigger brand than Hawkins.”
Hawkins agent Sean Anderson said yesterday: “There were initial discussions last year with Foxtel regarding Jen hosting Project Runway however it became clear that her work schedule with Myer, Getaway, Lovable, Siren Shoes and Cozi would not enable her to take four months off to shoot the show so we did not pursue discussions.
“In any event, the presence of David Jones designers as judges would’ve prevented Jen from being involved with the show.”
