Pineapple Dance Studios' Louis Spence heading down under for Mardi Gras

UK Superstar Louie Spence, from the top-rating reality dance series Pineapple Dance Studios, is heading to Australia for FOXTEL’s Arena channel to be part of its exclusive coverage of The 2011 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade.

Arena will broadcast the event live and exclusive on Saturday, March 5 from 7.30pm. The incredibly popular and un-questionably talented British choreographer has worked with some of world’s biggest stars and will bring his high camp humour down-under for the first time to help celebrate one of the biggest and most extravagant parades worldwide.

From London, the ever excitable Spence said: “I always wanted to be big down under – and now’s my chance. I can’t wait to get to Australia and see the amazing Mardi Gras parade, hold onto your G-strings Australia, I’m on my way.”

FOXTEL’s Charlotte Dawson and Ruby Rose will join Louis on the gay night of nights, as well as Olympic Diving Champion Matthew Mitcham and drag queen Courtney Act, with more special guests to be announced.

The 2011 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade celebrates the unique and cultural personality of the Australian gay and lesbian community. The parade runs through the streets of Sydney along the world famous Oxford Street.

For the third year in a row FOXTEL is proud to broadcast the full scale production  in conjunction with the New Mardi Gras Organisation, who will this year bring on board the highly sought after creative director of the 2000 Sydney Olympics Games Opening Ceremony, Ignatious Jones, to create a parade like no other.

In 2009 the reality television series Pineapple Dance Studios was a runaway hit for Louie both in the UK and Australia, with high profile fans of the series including Kylie Minogue, George Michael, Elton John, Madonna, the Scissor Sisters and Rihanna.

To coincide with his Australian visit, Louis will launch the follow-up series Showbusiness which will premiere exclusively on Arena on Wednesday March 9 at 7.30pm. Louie and his team return to the screen and hire a production office and some rehearsal space, and embark on a mission to put on the best West End show London has ever seen. Along the way we meet a new cast of weird and wonderful characters as well as a glittering array of TV megastars and Pineapple regulars.
