The Apartment

Saturday, 5 February 2011 Bud Baxter is a basically decent young executive who finds a startlingly original method of working his way to the top. The key to Bud’s success is his apartment – he offers it to four of his bosses as a convenient trysting point.

Bud provides the bed and a bit of outside catering. In return, he is rewarded with a series of job promotions. But the situation grows more complicated when Bud falls in love with the pretty young elevator operator in his building. Her name is Fran, but as it turns out, she is already having an affair with one of Bud’s superiors, Mr. Sheldrake.

Unknown to Bud, Fran and Mr. Sheldrake are meeting twice a week in the apartment. But during the annual office Christmas party, the truth finally comes out and Bud is heartbroken.

Fran, too, has her problems. Sheldrake refuses to marry her and she attempts suicide in Bud’s room.
