Fox Sports boasts bigger, better AFL coverage this year

After a blockbuster 2010 season, the FOX SPORTS AFL team will once again provide fans with more AFL coverage than any other broadcaster in 2011. FOX SPORTS will continue its commitment to screen every match of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season, providing up to four LIVE matches each from each round.

In 2011 FOX SPORTS will also deliver exclusive coverage of the new state league competition, the FOXTEL Cup, and will ensure footy fans get their AFL fix seven days a week through seven dedicated AFL magazine shows.

Boasting an all-star line-up of the AFL’s most respected commentators and former players, the FOX SPORTS commentary team includes Jason Dunstall, Dwayne Russell, Gerard Healy, Brian Taylor, Danny Frawley, Liam Pickering, Matthew Campbell, David Parkin, Tony Shaw, Alastair Lynch, Glen Jakovich and Leigh Colbert.

Joining them in 2011 are legendary Bulldog Brad Johnson, 2005 premiership-winning coach Paul Roos, 2003 Brownlow Medallist Mark Ricciuto, and North Melbourne champion David King. Former AFL stars Wayne Schwass and Ben Dixon have also signed on to call the action from the FOXTEL Cup.

With the season kicking off this Thursday, FOX SPORTS ramps up its AFL campaign on Wednesday night as AFL 360 continues at 7.30pm before Brian Taylor hosts a special season preview edition of AFL Teams at 8.30pm AEDT.

The focus turns to the on-field action on Saturday, when FOX SPORTS presents its first of four LIVE opening round fixtures as reigning premiers Collingwood clash with Port Adelaide from 1.30pm AEDT on FOX SPORTS 1HD and FOX SPORTS 1.

This season FOX SPORTS will make an exciting addition to its weekend AFL coverage, with Before the Bounce becoming After the Bounce and screening on Sunday nights with its trademark fun and frivolity led by Jason Dunstall, Danny Frawley, Damien Fleming and Gerard Whateley. The boys will be making their Sunday night debut this week at the special time of 6.00pm before the LIVE match between West Coast Eagles and North Melbourne from Patersons Stadium at 7.00pm AEDT.

From Monday March 28, the complete FOX SPORTS AFL compliment returns with all seven dedicated magazine shows back on air, including the 2011 debut of AFL Winners on Monday along with On the Couch and AFL Insider on Tuesday. Friday will see the introduction of a new program to the FOX SPORTS AFL line up, AFL Winners Presents: The Greatest… which will look back at some of the most memorable moments in AFL history.

Rod Law, FOX SPORTS Director said, “FOX SPORTS commitment to the AFL is bigger and better than ever before.

“We’ve secured more of the game’s biggest names to join the best commentary team in the AFL, plus we’ve re-vamped our magazine show offering to guarantee fans coverage of the game they love every day of the week.”

AFL fans will be able to stay up-to-date with the latest news throughout the season on Australia’s only dedicated 24-hour sports news channel, FOX SPORTS News with live scores, highlights and reaction from every match, plus the best previews, reviews and analysis from the FOX SPORTS team of experts.

In addition, www.foxsports.com.au, Australia’s leading general sports website, has AFL covered this season, with video highlights of every match, interactive reports offering fans the chance to have their say, weekly opinion from FOX SPORTS commentators, and an exclusive weekly column from Gerard Healy.

This season the FOX SPORTS website is also home to the AFL’s most popular fantasy game, AFL Supercoach, where players will chase a grand prize of $50,000 and weekly prizes of $1,000.

FOX SPORTS extensive coverage of the AFL is available to FOXTEL and AUSTAR subscribers.
