RPA continues with four more stories of extraordinary patients and their amazing medical teams at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital next Wednesday at 8.30pm on Channel Nine.
In this episode of the award-winning medical reality program we revisit Renee, who is still enduring the shock of discovering she has a large mass in her brain after a skiing accident, and meet three new inspirational patients with stories of strength and bravery.
Renee
An accident on the ski fields knocked 36-year-old Renee unconscious and led to a scan that revealed a large mass in her brain. Doctors have told the mother of two she has a tumour that must be removed, but they won’t know if it is life-threatening until after the operation. In part two of her story, Renee shows extraordinary courage.
Kevin
Kevin is no stranger to RPA; his blocked arteries have caused him all kinds of health problems. Tonight he is back to see his vascular surgeon, Dr Steve Dubenec, after feeling pain in his calf muscle. He is told that he risks losing his leg if he does not go through with surgery.
Gavin
Gavin, 39, hit his little finger with a hammer at work, but the real blow comes when he finds out that he has a melanoma under his fingernail and his only chance of survival is radical treatment – amputation.
Sally
Sally arrives in Emergency after a spot of gardening leaves her with a swollen and blistered hand. She suspects a spider bite but doctors haven’t ruled out something much more serious.
The RPA series is narrated by Australian actor and artist, Max Cullen.
