John Wood is Heading To Ramsay St.

Former Gold Logie winner John Wood is returning to series TV and is heading to Ramsay St. Wood, who played Tom Croydon on Blue Heelers for 12 years until it was axed in 2006, will play surgeon Dr Martin Chambers on Neighbours. “This offer of a small continuing character came up and I thought, ‘Oh well, I have never done Neighbours and it is a long time since I have been on commercial TV, it sounds good’,” Wood said of his six-month deal. “A day a week, that is not going to kill me and it reminds everyone I am still alive.”

Wood said he was glad his character would not be spending too much time in the operating theatre. “It seems most of them (his scenes) are going to take place on the golf course or in the pub, so they are sort of places I understand,” he said. “I can put a Band-Aid on myself, but I hate looking at other people’s wounds.” Wood admitted while he was glad to be joining the cast he was not a regular viewer of the show. “I don’t feel bad about saying I have not seen Neighbours for years because I never used to watch Blue Heelers either.
