The Block Season Four Week 2 Part #2

Last night, the teams met up with Shelley Craft for their first Tuesday challenge which will occur, of course, tonight! In a monopoly style game, contestants must travel to the store that their piece lands on, on the board, and find a small red house statue. Each statue is worth $5,000 and the team that finds the whole $25,000 worth of them, gets a key that lets them choose any house on the block they would like. That’s right, there’s gonna be a house swap!

We return to The Block arcade (yes, it’s an actual place in Melbourne) and we get a VERY extended recap of last night’s last ten minutes. Seriously, they could’ve just cut off the last ten minutes of last night and just put it here! Oh well, I guess it helps the half hour Tuesday challenge move a little faster.

Shelley runs through the rules again. The twist is quite harsh but the smiling nice looking Shelley just brings the challenge down to earth as the four teams travel to their first of five locations. Rod & Tania quickly plug the first location into his GPS and are on their way, discussing whether or not anyone would want to swap houses now.

Shelley moves the first piece to a block that says Meizai. In reality, Meizai is a home decoration shop. Katrina & Amie are first but all teams more or less arrive at the same time and the teams seem to nearly tear the place apart to find the block and Jenna & Josh find their house within the first ten seconds. They are off!

After the break, a short recap takes us back to Meizai where Polly & Waz find their statue. Meanwhile, Amie & Katrina seem to get a bit sidetracked, looking at some of the nice pieces of furniture in the shop. Love it. Funnily enough, they find their block quickly and only Tania & Rod remain in Meizai.

Meanwhile, Jenna & Josh arrive at location two, Reece plumbing. They are a bit nervous as Polly & Waz arrive just five seconds after them. They find their house quite quickly, Jenna & Josh that is, but Polly & Waz find their second house and are still not far behind.

Location three is Going, Going Green but meanwhile, Tania & Rod are still on the hunt for their first house in Meizai but Tania finally finds it and they are off to Reece. Amie & Katrina are still trying to find their Reece house and they are getting frustrated.

They find their house and are off to store three. Tania & Rod arrive at Reece’s to find no one there. This rattles them but Rod quickly finds the house and they too are off to Going, Going Green.

Josh & Jenna arrive at this massive garden centre that houses thousands and thousands of pots. Polly & Waz also arrive quickly and quickly begin their search. Katrina & Amie literally skip into the centre as Jenna & Josh’s lead is crushed. Jenna is getting frustrated with Josh’s persistent and thorough searching technique.

Now Tania & Rod arrive and the game is neck and neck again! After the break, Polly & Waz look through some barbecues and find their third house as Josh & Jenna are just looking around with no form at all. They just hope it takes the other contestants a long time to find theirs.

Jenna and Josh are still bickering as Katrina & Amie find their house second and run (skip) for the car as Polly & Waz arrive at store four, Capocchi. This is a very expensive furniture shop with huge price tags.

It isn’t long before Polly & Waz find house number four and they are off for their final store. They try not to run through the store hoping not to break anything.

Meanwhile, Jenna & Josh and Tania & Rod are still looking for their houses however Jenna & Josh are just bickering with hardly any productivity. As they argue, Tania & Rod find their house and are off.

Meanwhile, the sisters arrive at Capocchi to search for their fourth house and they find it very easily without breaking anything. Jenna and Josh however are still arguing over where the house would be. They look through pots and the camera zooms in on the house, hiding behind a tree just above Josh’s head. He doesn’t seem to notice it!

He does finally find it and he doesn’t show any excitement as they head for Capocchi as Tania & Rod try not to break anything finding their fourth house. On the way to the expensive store, Jenna & Josh continue to argue.

Tania & Rod just can’t find it and Jenna & Josh are able to catch up. Rod opens a very expensive cabinet, $26,000 worth, but it is the home of house four. Luckily, he doesn’t break the cabinet while trying to retrieve it.

Meanwhile, Polly & Waz are rocking up to the final store as Katrina & Amie catch up to them. It will be a do or die battle in Fenton & Fenton (the final store) as the two teams battle it out.

But as it turns out, it doesn’t take long for Polly to find the house and Shelley comes out of nowhere to congratulate them.

With the challenge over, they don’t bother showing the progress of the other teams as the contestants return at nightfall to the block.

Scott wraps up the challenge and congratulates Polly & Waz on their win. They can either stay in the house they have or swap with another competitor. Polly & Waz take the golden key and go to think about their decision. The other teams are genuinely scared!

They inspect Rod & Tania’s house four first and Polly seems quite happy with the house with the team giving it a lot of compliments.

Now it is time for house three, Katrina and Amie’s free standing house. Polly calls it a mirror image of their house but Waz knows it is taller and bigger.

The last house to inspect was house one, Jenna & Josh’s house. They are nervous and begin to argue again!! Bloody hell. Polly & Waz are impressed with Jenna & Josh’s house. They go out to announce their answer.

The three teams have a short plead with the power holding Polly & Waz before they go to make their decision. Of course, we won’t find this out until tomorrow.

Now I’m confused, I thought they swapped houses with the person of their choice even though this has never actually been confirmed but Tania said that Polly & Waz ‘move in with the team of their choice’, so what’s the actual go here?

Well first up, this episode had a lot of repetition in it and I think 95% of it was necessary however they could have trimmed it up nicer and maybe not have shown as much of last episode’s last ten minutes at the start (the events were only shown on air yesterday, we haven’t forgotten!).

Other than that, pretty funny and intense episode, I like the twist very much (even though the explanation of it is a bit sketchy for me) and it wasn’t unexpected that they won’t show Polly & Waz’ opinion until tomorrow; which I think was a clever though obvious move.
