Tomic's win boosts Wimbledon ratings on 7TWO

Aussie Bernard Tomic’s win over Xavier Malisse at Wimbledon has seen 7TWO’s average national audience of 404,000 almost double the ratings of the same day on Channel 9 last year.

In Melbourne the figure was triple that of last year with 164,000 tuning in to see the young Aussie demolish the Belgium in under one and a half hours 6-1, 7-5, 6-4.

Tomic faces world no. 2 Novak Djokovic on Wednesday night in the quarter final as the youngest quarter-finalist since Boris Becker in 1986.

Seven’s coverage continues tonight from 10pm hosted by Todd Woodbridge with special comments from a team including tennis legend John Newcombe on the 40th anniversary of his back-to-back Wimbledon singles victories.
