8:10am – Tuesday, July 19 on ABC3
This surreal 13 x 30minute comedy follows the adventures of Rocco and Brooks – two ‘babies’ played by grown men, with their heads superimposed on real infants’ bodies. Combining live action, puppetry and computer generated imagery, Big Babies is an innovative comedy series new to ABC3.
Rocco (Martin Collins) and Brooks (Spencer Jones) would happily sit and watch television all day if Carole, Brooks’ mum, didn’t take them out for excursions in their double buggy. Trips to the park, the duck pond, the pet shop, or even just a drive in the car, all provide the backdrop to a series of surreal, vibrant and outrageously funny adventures.
On these trips we meet Gonch, ‘the coolest kid in town’, who has always done everything cooler and bigger and better than Rocco and Brooks. But when the kids are away the toys in the nursery come to life and that’s when the trouble really starts. The toy shelf is led by Budge – a mischievous stuffed toy made by Brooks’ Nan who has a thing about biscuits and will do anything to get them.
Episode one, Ducks – Tuesday, July 19 at 8.10am Rocco and Brooks are taken to feed the ducks in the park. Despite boasting to Rocco about his knowledge of ducks, Brooks soon loses his cool when the birds get a little too up close and personal.
