RPA: Wednesday, July 13, at 9.15pm on Nine

Each week Channel Nine’s award-winning medical program RPA takes viewers on a journey into the lives of the brave and inspiring patients of Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.

On Wednesday, June 13, at 8.30pm we meet Boulos who, after discovering a small lump in his mouth, is given the unpleasant news that it must be removed – with unfortunate consequences. Also in this episode, three new patients share their real-life medical stories.

Boulos

A small lump in Boulos’ mouth has grown to the size of a golf ball in just two weeks. Doctors have to move fast to remove it before it gets any bigger but he is confronted with the unfortunate news that he will lose part of his jaw in the operation.

Lisa

A scan has revealed a cyst on Lisa’s pancreas. She won’t know how dangerous it is until it is removed and she may have to lose part of her pancreas at the age of 24.

Chris

Telling doctors in Emergency he was “re-enacting a scene from Roman Holiday” when he came off his Vespa, Chris winds up in the operating theatre – twice.

Michelle

Trouble swallowing leads 35-year-old Michelle to a surgeon who suspects thyroid cancer. The keen water polo player won’t know if she has to lose her entire thyroid gland until she wakes up after the operation.

The RPA series is narrated by Australian actor and artist, Max Cullen.
