Tonight caps off week three of The Block as the contestants all rush to complete room two! Tonight, Shelley & Scott come to inspect the houses as they are currently and offer some advice on where to go from here; and this time, I recommend Polly & Waz take it!
Katrina & Amie are working on a multipurpose study area and while they are enthusiastic on the idea, they aren’t so crash hot on having to shop secondhand. They arrive at a secondhand shop and like one of the items that is new!
Without any luck, they leave and Katrina and her infamous singing make another appearance. Meanwhile, Jenna is also out buying furniture and while she can’t find much, she has a lot of photos to show Josh.
Polly & Waz are now looking quite successfully for secondhand curtains and are really looking forward to what they have found. After a bad week last week, can they redeem themselves?
Katrina & Amie are still having trouble but are able to find a ‘leather’ puff and buy it on impulse, just to buy something.
After the break, Scott mentions that today, the second level of the houses that need them have been built and the stairs are now being installed. The tradies are hard at work and I wonder who is REALLY contributing to the house, the tradies or the contestants?
Meanwhile, Shelley arrives and she and Scott go to inspect the rooms. First up seems to be Jenna & Josh as we get a lengthy look at their plans and progress. They are stressed at the job at task, with Scott pointing out a big gap in the awnings.
They run Shelley through what they are doing with the furniture and the fact that the bed will be made out of pallets really stress out the hosts!
Overall, Scott and Shelley can see that they have a lot to do but over to Katrina & Amie, they just can’t seem to find any furniture to begin with! Scott does however see that the other elements of their room (wallpaper, carpet etc.) are coming along nicely.
They run through their plan to Scott and Shelley and they think they are doing a great job, but wish them good luck!
Meanwhile, as work continues on the upper level of the houses, Shelley & Scott go over to visit Polly & Waz and see if their second bedroom is coming up better than their first room.
Scott is happy with what they have done so far, including the kinks and indents in the walls like inbuilt shelves. Shelley is also amazed at some of their secondhand furniture which looks brand new.
Scott and Shelley are definitely impressed and even I am happy for them!
Last couple is Rod & Tania who have done most of the work themselves, including the awnings among other things. Scott loves the huge wardrobe in the room and they reveal to Shelley that they have fitted and finished the plastering themselves, to Shelley and Scott’s amazement.
Shelley gives them a bit of advice, telling them to take the wax off of the surf board, but like Polly & Waz did last week, Rod & Tania choose not to listen to her, despite her experience. Oh dear, why isn’t anyone listening to poor Shelley?
After the break, Katrina & Amie get a visit from the family, which surprises them. Katrina & Amie’s work has surprised the family members quite a bit. As the sun sets, the visitors leave as they continue as usual.
Meanwhile, with the sound curfew on and Jenna wants to do a bit of painting. They have this weird machine (for painting?!) and Jenna wants to use it despite its noise. She puts it on and Josh quickly turns it off, not wanting to get disqualified.
She disagrees with the fact that it is loud but Waz confirms it is a bit too loud and after swearing at her, Josh demands an apology. Jenna doesn’t back down, deciding he can do the painting and she work on something different.
So that’s the episode for tonight and the humour that ends the episode is quite a nice way to wrap up the week. Again, Shelley’s smile has done well to make me smile at this episode and it was nice to see Katrina & Amie get a visit from their husbands and kids. Good episode all round and I guess it’s time to have a good weekend!
Courtney’s Verdict: 9.5/10
