Hot off the heels of the Australian series for 2011 concluding last night, FOXTEL have announced that the brand new season of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT will premiere exclusively on FOX8 later this year.
The hugely popular, reality competition series features celebrity judges Sharon Osbourne (The Osbournes, The Talk, The Celebrity Apprentice), Howie Mandel (St Elsewhere, Deal Or No Deal) and CNN host Piers Morgan. It is hosted by Nick Cannon.
The sixth series of America’s Got Talent recently premiered in the US and attracted its highest audience numbers ever for a season debut.
FOXTEL Executive Director of Television, Brian Walsh, said: “The Got Talent franchise is a smash hit worldwide, including Australia and the United Kingdom. America’s Got Talent is a sure fire ratings hit, as seen by its recent record breaking figures in its season debut in the US, and we’re thrilled to have secured the rights to the US franchise.
“Buoyed by our success with American Idol and Got To Dance, FOX8 is the perfect home for this juggernaut entertainment series.”
The talent search is open to acts of all ages and showcases a colourful array of hopeful stars, including singers, dancers, comedians, contortionists, impressionists, jugglers, magicians and ventriloquists, all vying for their chance to strut and perform on stage hoping to win America’s hearts – and the one million dollar prize.
