After last weeks shock elimination of Yolanda, only nine girls remain in the running to be Australia’s next top model, and they are:
Amelia Coutts, 18, NSW
Elizabeth Braithwaite, 17, QLD
Hazel O’Connell, 16, Bathurst, NSW
Isabelle Vesey, 21, Gold Coast, QLD
Jessica Bush, 19, Brisbane, QLD
Madeline Huet, 22, TAS
Montana Cox, 17, VIC
Rachel Ridell, 18, VIC
Simone Holtznagel, 17, Woolongong, NSW
Simone starts off the night, along with Jess complaining that Rachel got picture of the week – and then it’s Sarah mail. This week is about being a ‘drama queen’. The girls head to NIDA and are met by Charlotte and NIDA graduate, Anna Houston.
They start off with an impovisation game called “Excuse me, what are you doing?”, wher they mustuse their bodies to improvise a situation – it’s very odd! Next is emotional range from 0 to 10 from nothing to hysterical grief – Izzy nails it. Then they have to pretend they are on a train with a tic!
Charlotte gives the girls scripts and tells them they will need to learn their lines and remember their improv skills. It’s so over the top that it’s annoying.
The girls head to Carnival Studios and Charlotte greets them with the news that they are auditioning for a Telstra campaign. Abe Forsythe, an actor who won last years Tropfest, will direct. The four girls who do the best will appear in the commercial, that spoofs soap operas.
Amelia is first, and says she is going to take arisk and give it her all and does really well. Hazel is rather flat and the other girls claws are out! Liz will do “some imprompting stuff” and can’t remember her lines. Montana decides to go with an American accent, but doesn’t even realise. When she uses her natural voice, Abe and Charlotte are impressed.
Madeline is quite good and Simone is “the little bimbo gift that keeps on giving”. The final four are announced and they are Amelia, Montana, Simone and Madeline.
The girls start shooting the Telstra ad and then they all head off to the photo shoot. Sarah calls the cars and it’s “full steam ahead”. They are in Picton and will be doing a Great Gatsby inspired shoot, shot by Jordan Graham, on a vintage steam train.
Josh comes in and gets the girls to meet their costar in the shoot, as they will be in three groups of four. The person joining them is Lincoln Lewis! The girls are VERY excited.
The first group is Maddie, Liz and Rachel and must pretend they are coming home after a big night out. Rachel struggles, Maddie does well and Liz is having problems with angles. They group overall didn’t do that well.
Next up is Simone, Jess and Hazel inside the train. Simone does really well, Jess needs more range and Hazel needs alot of direction, but the photographer loves her. The next girls need to be melancholy over someone leaving them. Amelia, Montana and Izzy’s shoot is lovely. Izzy, who has been insecure, is brilliant.
The nine remaining contestants head to elimination. Jordan Graham is the guest judge and for the first time the girls will be judged as groups.
Madeline, Liz and Rachel – Maddie looks more like an actress than a model, it’s Liz’s weakest shot so far in the competition and Rachel is the only one who did well, but was the hardest to work with.
Hazel, Simone and Jess – Hazel is amazing, Jess doesn’t seem like she is in charachter and Simonelooks gorgeous – but of course she thinks so too.
Amelia, Montana and Izzy – It’s Izzy’s best picture and the others seem to blend in due to that.
Maddies group is the weakest of the three. Jess let her group down the most and both Montana and Amelia were the weakest in their shoot. Now it’s time for photo reveal!
First called is Simone, followed by Izzy, Rachel, Hazel, Montana and Madeline. That leaves Amelia, Jess and Liz – and it’s double elimination again. Liz is called – meaning Jess and Amelia are going home. That leaves the final 7 being:
Elizabeth Braithwaite, 17, QLD
Hazel O’Connell, 16, Bathurst, NSW
Isabelle Vesey, 21, Gold Coast, QLD
Madeline Huet, 22, TAS
Montana Cox, 17, VIC
Rachel Ridell, 18, VIC
Simone Holtznagel, 17, Woolongong, NSW
Next week the girls head to a rubbish dump and wear trash, they also will go naked and wear only pink paint! Australia’s next Top Model airs at 7.30pm on Mondays on Fox 8.
