The Top Chef All Stars final two have been chosen and they are Richard Blais and Michael Isabella.
Last night’s episode 15, titled The Last Supper, sa Mike, Blais and Antonia as the final three and head into a quickfire challenge.
Each chef had to complete a challenge based on a quickfire from a previous season, that is selected by one of their competitors. Then an additional twist is added!
Richard must complete a hot dog dish, with the twist being he can only use one hand. Antonia must prepare a dish using only canned ingredients, tied to previous competitor, Carla. Mike must prepare a dish using only one pot, and is not allowed to use any cutlery or utensils.
Richard makes hot dog on roti bread with curry ketchup, mayonnaise and mint leaves. Antonia produces a curry coconut soup with prawns, andoujille sausage, peanuts and fish sauce.
Mike presents pork shoulder with black beans, chilli paste, ginger and cabbage salad. Mike is the winner and wins $5000.
Now for the elimination challenge. The chefs must prepare a meal, inspired by what one of the guest judges would want for their last meal. Richard must prepare a traditional Austrian meal for Wolfgang Puck, consisting of goulash, spaetzle, and apple strudel. Antonia must prepare a traditional Japanese meal for Masaharu Morimoto, consisting of miso soup and a sashimi bento box. Mike must prepare a meal of fried chicken, biscuits, and gravy for Michelle Bernstein.
Richard was first to be announced as safe. Following the announcement that Richard would go on to the finale, Antonia and Mike were asked to cook one last perfect bite. The chef preparing the dish the judges preferred would be the second chef to continue to the finale, the other would be eliminated.
They have 45 minutes to make the perfect bite for the seven judges. Antonia serves a bite of seared grouper in coconut lobster broth, with a yam, apple and dill relish. Mike makes tempura lobster over beef tartare with caramelized olives and chimchurri sauce.
And the winner is – Michael Isabella.
