After landing in the bottom two for the third week in a row, Jacqui Newland couldn’t escape elimination from The X Factor tonight, and was the third finalist to be sent home.
Once again Jacqui had to sing for her life tonight, even though her performance of Rihanna’s Shut Up And Drive received positive feedback from the judges last night.
Jacqui was joined in the bottom two by trio Young Men’s Society but the judges voted to send the 22-year-old home.
Jacqui’s mentor Mel B was shocked to lose another one of her Under 25 girls saying, “I just think you guys haven’t given Jacqui enough chances yet, she should not be in the bottom two. Not Jacqui again, she’s worked way too hard for this.”
All the fellow judges praised Jacqui for her ongoing strength after being in the bottom two each week with Ronan saying, “I feel sorry for you. You came out and sang with your heart and soul, well done.”
Jacqui, from Geelong, said of her X Factor experience “I never expected to get this far. It’s been tough being in the bottom two each week but I’m not focusing on the negatives, I’ve had an amazing experience. Mel has been a brilliant mentor and Christina and Tyla are now life-long friends. I really hope Christina wins this for the girls!”
Next week, the remaining nine finalists will take to the stage as Nineties week kicks off.
