The X Factor lost one of its favourite contestants tonight, with tattooed country singer Mitchell Callaway being eliminated from the competition after landing in the bottom two for the first time.
Even though Mitchell received positive feedback from the judges for his performance of Throw Your Arms Around Me last night, tonight he had to sing for his life against Perth’s Johnny Ruffo who narrowly escaped elimination once again.
With the judges again going into deadlock and the choice coming down to audience votes, Mitchell left the competition saying, “I’ve had such an awesome experience. Nat has been a great mentor and the whole experience has been amazing.”
Mitchell’s mentor Natalie Bassingthwaighte was devastated to see another one of her competitors leave the competition saying, “Mitchell is such a great performer and that’s what he should be doing for the rest of his life.”
Next week, the final six contestants up the energy levels with Ultimate Dance Party songs.
