Alanis, The Cranberries, REM – it was definitely ‘90s night on The X Factor last night. The remaining nine finalists took on some of the biggest hits from the ‘90s, all wanting to stave off elimination tonight.
Johnny Ruffo kicked off the show with a Chris Brown inspired performance of Meatloaf’s I Would Do Anything For Love with judge and mentor Guy Sebastian saying, “It was awesome.”
Sydney based Three Wishez performed a scorching performance of Ghetto Superstar with mentor Ronan Keating saying, “Guys, you were fantastic! I’m so proud of you.”
Mel B’s sole remaining Under 25 girls contestant, 15-year-old Christina Parie, proved why she is a crowd favourite with her version of The Cranberries’ massive hit Zombie. Mentor Mel B said “Boy, do we make a good bloody team – you were amazing tonight.” While Guy Sebastian said, “One of my favourite moments of the entire series. Incredible.”
Tonight’s elimination show will determine the Top 8 contestants and also feature US singer Chris Isaak performing Oh, Pretty Woman, made famous by Roy Orbison, and Australia’s own Vanessa Amorosi singing her new single Amazing, from her upcoming album V.
The X Factor continues tonight at 7.30pm.
