Guy Sebastian lost his first Under 25 male contestant from The X Factor tonight, with Melbourne teenager Declan Sykes being eliminated from the competition. Declan landed in the bottom two alongside Ronan’s last remaining group, Three Wishez, but all of the judges except Guy decided to send Declan home.
Last night Declan’s mentor Guy had three contestants left in the Top 5, but tonight had to bid farewell to one of the competition’s favourites saying, “I’m so sad to see Declan go but Australia will not forget him. I’ve been so lucky to have him in my category and he’s got a very bright future ahead of him.”
After being eliminated, 15-year-old Declan said, “The X Factor has been such fun – the people I’ve met, the places I’ve seen, it’s been an amazing experience that I never thought I’d live.”
Tonight’s show also featured an Australian TV first, with UK singing superstar Susan Boyle performing Autumn Leaves in her first ever live TV performance in Australia.
There are only weeks left in the competition with Johnny Ruffo, Reece Mastin, Three Wishez and Andrew Wishart making up the Top 4.
Next week the remaining four contestants will take on ‘Pleasure & Pain’ songs in the last showdown before the Grand Final show.
