It’s Legends week on The X Factor with the Top 5 contestants taking on the biggest names in music from The Beatles to Celine Dion. With only weeks until the Grand Final, the heat is on the finalists to deliver their best performances yet.
Johnny Ruffo opened the show with his version of the Stevie Wonder classic Sir Duke. Judge Mel B said “That was my favourite performance of yours!”
Natalie Bassingthwaighte’s only remaining contestant Andrew Wishart sang U2’s Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For with Guy Sebastian saying, “You’re such a delight to watch.”
After landing in the bottom two last week, 16-year-old Reece Mastin was out to prove he’s got what it takes to win the competition, taking on the Celine Dion ballad All By Myself. However it didn’t win the judges over with Ronan Keating saying, “You were unsure about the song and I could see it in your eyes.”
After losing her final contestant last week, Judge Mel B is now the competition’s wildcard saying, “I may not have any acts, but I still have a vote.”
Tonight’s elimination show will see the Top 5 become four, and also deliver an Australian television first, with Susan Boyle performing live on the show.
The Top 5 will also be joined on stage by US singing legend Michael Bolton, performing his classic hit How Can We Be Lovers. Aussie pop princess Ricki-Lee will also perform her brand new single Raining Diamonds.
The X Factor continues tonight at 7.30pm.
