Ten: Break for Terra Nova

Bad news for Terra Nova fands with Ten holding off the final three episodes until most likely some time in 2012.

Next Sunday, December 11, at 8.30pm, the movie Mission Impoissible II will play. The following Sunday December 18 will also be a movie. The following Sunday is Christmas Day.

In the US, where Terra Nova airs on Monday nights, the last new episode aired November 28. The next episode is not scheduled to air until December 12, with a two hour finale airing on Tuesday December 19.

The last episode airing here (Now You See Me) is the same episode that aired in the US November 28.

With the next not on until December 12 in the US, if Ten did air (or were even able to) Terra Nova on December 11, we would be ahead of the US. This, of course, is not happening.

If they played the remaining three episodes on the following Sundays, the two hour finale would end up on Christmas Day – on of the lowest viewing nights for TV of the year.

The other option would be to move nights – a possibility, but not likely.

Two years ago, Seven played an episode of Flash Forward in summer non-ratings before it aired in the US, before it had its mid season break.

And this is exactly the reason I prefer networks to hold off US season series to start in February in Australia. The AU network can screen it non stop rather than the stop start crap that we have with Terra Nova.
