Tonight is the WA girls Justine and Angela. Last night siblings Steve and Helen got 75 out of 110! How will these girls do and how many yeahs will we hear from the Princess?
The ladies who have been best mates for 27 years are ready. Food is the key to their relationship as food is love. They are proud to represent WA and off to kick some ass – and go shopping.
The girls flirt with the butcher while getting duck breast as, for entree the girls are making a warm duck salad with beetroot, pomegranate and red currant vinaigrette. For the main the ladies are attempting pork chops with prosciutto, apple and gorgonzola, served with a pea and asparagus risotto. Oh dear, too much going on there. If your a foody you like gorgonzola claims Angela – I beg to differ.
The theme and name for their restaurant is “The Garden of Eden” – they put out plants, apples and plastic snakes, it looks better than it sounds. They are worried about putting flowers out as Leigh is a florist and Princess Jen will be expecting really nice flowers. The clock starts counting down and the ladies are quite emotional as they obviously didn’t have easy childhoods.
For dessert they are going to make a chocolate brownie and mixed berry nougat semifreddo with a berry coulis. They are making their own chiclen stock for the risotto, Ang tastes it and is bland – they forgot the onions and think this why it tastes like water. They have put a whole chook in and now think they might cut it up (Good idea! This is more likely why it tastes like nothing) .
The guests arrive and it’s the Princess and Leigh first at the door, much to the chargrin of Ang and Justine. Princess decides “first impression – doggy smell, thats not a really good impression to have when you first walk in”, while Carla claims “Justine looks amazing for a truck driver”!!
All are impressed by the theme and decor and receive champagne cocktails. Jennifer is off with the complaining already, she thinks the menu is flimsy (paper) and is not impressed. Angela and Justine start cooking the duck as Manu and Pete arrive. Thomas thinks the menu is over ambitious, Jen thinks are trying to do too much and we get 2 yeahs! Carla has now noticed the yeahs.
The duck is getting crisp and Pete gives the girls advice, which they ignore and now the duck is raw. They re-cook it but now won’t have time to rest it, big mistake. The entrees are HUGE and even serve garlic bread! Pete asks entree or main, complains that the duck wasn’t rested but loves the flavour, Manu likes the combination of flavours too.
Dave and Steve like the duck, Leigh thinks it was tender but Jennifers was tough – obviously. Angela and Justine start making the main. The girls sear the pork and add raw apple and place in the oven with (strong) gorgonzola on top. Angela is panicking and should be – she had drowned the risotto! They rest the pork, fix the risotto and serve yet again a massive sized dish.
Manu thinks the risotto is dissapointing and boring yet Pete likes it. Dave doesn’t like the cheese, Helen loves it and Thomas, even though he has cleaned the plate says, he didn’t really enjoy it – huh? Jennifer doesn’t get why the apples are still crunchy – they still taste like an apple…yeah. What the!
The ladies start a game asking the guests questions – Leigh and Jennifer are asked what annoys you about one another Leigh says ….”yeah” for Jennifer! Jennifer says Leighs COD – obsession to clean. Princess – you mean OCD! Now for dessert. Guess what it’s a large serve again. The semifreddo has melted all over the plates and looks shocking! Manu loves the semifreddo, Pete thinks there is too much on plate and the brownie wasn’t needed. Now for judgement.
