Tonight is the first show that we will actually see the contestants perform and will also get a visit from Hollywood star Vanessa Hudgens. The first song is Coldplays Viva la Vida sung by the whole YTT gang.
Here’s how things are going to work. Each week there will be four contestants who will perform and then judged by Chucky and Tina. The weekly winners will move onto the semifinals and then have the chance to go on to the YTT greand final. Each weekly winner gets $5000, a semi finalist winner will get $10,000 and the big winner will get $100,000.
The first contestants are four girls from Bundaberg called Quatro – who are a string quartet who will perform With or Without You by U2. They have performed two years in a row at the Tamworth Country Music festival and sound great, especially when they let loose
Tina thought it was abeautiful entrance, beautiful singing, great choreography but wants them to let loose a bit more and get into the more story telling side – but she liked it. Chucky thinks they were brilliant but thinks it started too tame, but says great job. Lyndall just celebrated her 16th birthday and is the first cast member to do a solo. She is singing “Someone to Love” and thinks is about a girl who is an outcast – but was actually by Queen originally. some other YTT members join her on back up and she does a very good job.
The Lil” Banditz Krew are a 17 piece dance crew who are performing to Set It Off by Timomatic. They range in ages from 8 to 15 and are fantastic! Chucky says that Australia is looking funky tonight tells the boys how it’s now cool to dance and people will be looking up to them. Tina thought it had great technique and doesn’t have a bad word to say.
We then see High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens and Georgia-May asks for a hug from the teary Hudgens, who is overwhelmed by how beautifully they sing. Also there is her Journey 2 costar Josh Hutcherson.
The next contestant is an 8 year old from Brisbane, Alayna, who is singing Judy Garlands – Over the Rainbow. What a sweetheart – poor little thing looks so scared though. Rob is so sweet to her. Tina tells Alayna it was so beautiful (Tina needs another adjective) and tells her purity is something she wants to keep seeing here in Australia. Chucky says she’s tiny – but her voice was angelic.
Up next is 15 year old Tim Tan (Oh dear bet he gets called …) from WA. Tonight he is singing Bon Jovi’s Always. I don’t think he should have followed that cherub Alayna. I’m not keen – but I’m not a judge. Tina said it was a great performance, but says to sound like himself not Jon Bon Jovi – way too nice. Chucky says he has an individual quality, nice job. Maybe are kind as is family show. The team backs up young Aydan to sing Jason Mraz’s I’m Yours which is sweet.
Tina and Chucky have decided on a winner and the first winner of YTT 2012 is Alayna! She’s very excited and overwhelmed at the $5000! The runners up recieve a YTT giftpack. If you really liked an act tonight you can vote for them on the YTT website so they have a chance to get a wild card into the semi’s. Go to ytt.com.au or the mobile app. The winner of the wild card will be announced next week. Oooh no more All My Loving they will mix it up each week that viewers vote for on the website. This week it’s Flo Ridas “Get the Feeling” – not sure about all the website stuff, but thats the first show with contestants wrapped up.
