Young Talent Time – YTT Puts Variety Back In Sunday Nights. Review

The new YTT is here!

Kylies excited! We also have a Bee Gee -  Barry Gibb (Johnny Young and him shared a flat in London in the 60′s), Olivia Newton-John all praising the show. After 30,000 auditions only ten were chosen! Johnny Young introduces by voiceover, the host Rob Mills.

Here are the cast! Tia Gigliotti,15, Michelle Mutyora,13, Lyndall Wennekes,15, Serena Suen,13, Tyler Wilford,14, Adrien Nookadu,15, Aydan Calafiore,11, Sean Emmett, 14, Nicholas Di Cecco, 12 and Georgia-May Davis,16!

They open with Black Eyed Peas -  I Got a Feeling, We Can Make It Loud by Stan Walker, You’ve Got The Music by the New Radicals and end with Edge Of Glory by Lady Gaga.

Now we have Rob Mills and original host Johnny Young in a split screen homage, then Rob introduces a very smooth faced Young! Alot of big noting follows when Johnny hands over the reigns.

Off to the auditions – not much covered there! Now we have flash backs and see Dannii, Tina and Joey Perrone. Aydan is the youngest and Tina has a soft spot for him as, she too was the youngest in the cast too. Serena starts crying her eyes out to Tina – because she’s scared No! Excited.

Tina is introduced by Rob – to sing with the YTT cast her hit Chains. Tina says that YTT was an incredible learning ground and is unsure what type of judge she will be. The audience is introduced to  Chucky Klapow who has worked with Dannii, Mick Jagger and Paula Abdul as a choreographer and was a dancer with the Michael Jackson – This Is It Tour.

Now the talent part is explained for next week  – we also see past contestants Asher Keddie (Offspring), John Foreman (GMA, now YTT) – funny they stuck with the network! Next week the contestants will be two singers, a dance troupe and a violinist.

We now see John Foreman take them through their vocals, that little Michelle is soo cute and she can has a gorgeous voice! The team sing Jessie J’s “Price Tag”. Rob welcomes John back to the show!  If Rob Mills wanted to be cheesy like Johnny Young used to be – he has it down pat.

There is then a heavily produced “video clip” but really quite fantastic of “Jump Start” by These Kids Wear Crowns – it then goes into a live rendition with Chucky doing a dance solo. Actually a really good moment and my favourite so far.

It’s not bad, better than I thought it would be and they deifinately have a great time slot for family viewing. Looking forward to next week when the real ‘show’ starts, even though I loved tonights flashbacks.

Close your eyes ……is it coming back??? Yes! Close your eyes and I’ll kiss you …… Ooooh a suprise!

Original cast members John Bowles, Lorena Novoa, Bevan Addinsall, Nicole Cooper, Tim Nelson, Steven Zammit, Karen Knowles, Jamie Redfern, Tina Arena and Johnny Yong come out and sing it – I guess another passing of the torch.

Good way to bring back YTT, but I wish Granada let us see the end credits in the show instead of making us go to the website to look at the full credits.

PS. Oh and one more thing, I hope you didn’t switch over to the tennis during the ad breaks, because if you did as one peek to see how Bernard Tomic is doing against Roger Federer, you will have betrayed the new YTT Team and Rob Mills.
