Last Man Standing is an adrenalin-fuelled, emotionally and physically gruelling series where six adventurers are sent to some of the most remote parts of the world to live with Indigenous peoples, to train with them, and to take part in their ancient sporting festivals.
British competitors Richard, Rajko and Mark, alongside their American team-mates Brad, Jason and Corey, are part-way through their challenge of a lifetime – travelling the world and competing against some of the most remote tribes on earth at their own sports.
The task facing the lads in this episode is to live as Mongolian nomads, and endure relentless training for a professional wrestling tournament, unchanged since the days of Genghis Khan. The regime is broken up only with some of the unpleasant tasks involved in managing the local herd of goats.
The event they are preparing for is called Naadam, the biggest sporting festival of the year. All the region’s top wrestlers will be there and they won’t be going easy on the foreigners. The aim is to throw your opponent. Your feet and hands can touch the ground, but if anything else hits the dirt, you lose. It sounds simple but the local lads began their training as soon as they could walk.
The team undergoes a traditional training regime and Brad is expecting his awesome strength to provide him with his second win after his success in the wrestling event in Brazil. However, training for this sporting festival quickly shows that muscles don’t count for much when technique is at stake.
