Recap: The Biggest Loser Australia: Singles Season Seven – The Walk #6 & Temptation #9

Previous episode: The Biggest Loser Australia: Singles Season Seven – Contest #6

Lisa has endured the elimination of her boyfriend by coming back and slaughtering the competition in the contest ring. Tonight; she gets her reward- a power attributed from The Walk! Last week, it kinda backfired for her- but will she finally get the upper hand this week?

We’re still in the arena at the walk where Lisa picks her mystery option. She then heads back to camp to wield her power over the game. She thinks there will be some people who will wonder how they will cope this week.

Back at camp and the three trainers walk in to see Lisa gone. There is concerned, but surely they know she is on the walk. Michelle is surprised to hear that she won. Alex is nervous about what Lisa may do, haha. We recap last week’s fiasco.

Lisa walks back in and reveals her power. ‘Choose one contestant to have exclusive access to a trainer of their choice until weigh in’. I was correct! Yay! One for Courtney! Lisa takes this opportunity for herself and chooses Michelle.

Margie and Lydia joins the other contestants to train with Tiffiny and Commando. Let training begin! Lydia isn’t happy to not have Michelle, but I’m sure Tiffiny and Commando will push them hard.

Margie actually likes the Commando as the trainer as he smashes everyone and smash is what he does!

He absolutely drowns out Tiffiny who does give her own fair share of umph to the session. Commando actually seems to like training Margie as she seems to be getting more and more successful.

Opinion point: If you were in Lisa’s shoes, what would you have done?

After the break, it is time for Lisa’s training session with Michelle. She wants to alter Lisa’s dietary intake to maximise her weight loss for the week. A lot of product placement here. Still, this is quite an easy-to-listen to and effective nutrition session.

With that, it is training time! We see some flash backs and actually, you can REALLY see a difference in Lisa! She is actually doing really well. Michelle tells her that she has to learn to look after herself, so she can better look after others.

Lisa then opens up about life bringing up some kids! She finds it hard to find time for herself. Taking the walk twist for herself was a good example of this.

Afterwards, Michelle goes to check in with Lydia, who was annoyed at not having Michelle. She is struggling, which Michelle can tell from her body language.

Opinion point: Should Lydia be so down that she can’t train with her usual trainer?

Lydia says she has trained with the other trainers before, so it shouldn’t be too hard to train; but she wants Michelle to help her to change her personality because she feels she is too abrasive to others. We see flashbacks where this has been the case.

She breaks down as she feels as if she has attributes she hates in others, and feels this has made her angry and has placed her in the camp.

She wants people to not be scared of her or avoid her and she feels as if she needs to tell the other contestants that. She has to apologising to them for everything.

Michelle brings Lydia into the room to talk to them. She is about to be open and honest about her traits she is not proud of.

She then basically relays what she told Michelle. It’s very emotional and very real- but a little repetitive. I think this could have had bigger impact if we saw Lydia getting upset but then see her explain it straight to the contestants; who are quite supportive of her.

Lisa thinks the fun has been lost, and they need to get it back and just have fun in the competition.

Then, temptation time! They head into the lounge, which has been spectacularly transformed into a French patisserie.

Today, they will be enticed by French dessert, created by Adriano Zumbo. A plug for MasterChef? Maybe not the most positive promotion. Hey guys, what you see and cook off MasterChef- will make you fat! ESPECIALLY, if it is an Adriano Zumbo dessert!

Opinion point: If you could tempt a Biggest Loser contestant with anything, what would you say would be the most effective?

Hayley tells them that they will be rewarded like never before- there are two immunities up for grabs. With seven contestants- that is HUGE! The winner will win immunity for themselves and for a person of their choice.

The contestant who consumes the most amount of calories will win the immunities. They will visit the patisserie alone. Margie will retain immunity if no one plays. She hints at them all – ‘don’t eat’.

Lisa is first and basically sums up the promotion right there- ‘this is the food that landed me in The Biggest Loser’. Haha, when MasterChef comes round, I am going to remember this day.

Lisa says no.

Margie is next. Is it just me, or is how Margie says ‘delicious’ funny?! I laugh every time she says it.

Margie goes in to eat a green milo cake but then hesitates. This is close.

Opinion point: Who do you think is most likely to take temptation?

After the break, she takes one milo cake. She is tempted for another cake so she just walks away to starve off temptation.

Kasey is next. She would have a pavlova if she was to have anything, but she doesn’t. Graham isn’t much of a dessert person. Alex is next and he wouldn’t mind something. He takes the apple Danish. He seems full, so he doesn’t take anything else.

Michelle walks in next and she loves dessert. She does think she needs immunity and this would be the week to take it. She takes something- a chocolate cake. That has to be worth a lot of calories!

She eats it so daintily. I would too- that looks like heaven.

Michelle finds that she is getting full quickly. She can hardly eat the whole cake.

Lydia is last, I believe. She has never given into temptation (much) since being in the house, as she thinks it is the easy way out. But with two immunities, will she give in now?

Opinion point: Who would you give temptation to?

After the break, she gives into a citrus tart. That is now four people who have gone temptation- that we know of for sure. She then goes up for some more!

She tries the salted butter caramel.

She then gets some chocolate into her for a third meal. I’m concerned about her now. She may get immunity, but she may have it taken off of her if she gains weight. This could tip her over the edge.

She finishes after that third meal, and it is time for the results.

Hayley confirms that four took immunity. Margie consumed 82 calories- not much! It wasn’t nearly enough.

Alex consumed 225 calories. Again, not enough.

So, who will win? Lydia or Michelle?

Lydia consumed 608 calories- a lot less than some of Hamish’s temptations! Was it enough? No. So Michelle wins immunity with 850 calories in that cake!

Lydia is devastated for no result after not usually taking temptation. She can relax this week- unless she puts weight on. Who will she give immunity to?

Thursday! No, that isn’t the name of a new contestant- it’s when we’ll find out!

Again, this episode was brilliant. This show really is on a role this week. An amazing temptation, a bit of emotion, but maybe a bit too much product placement here and there.

Production was fantastic and the storytelling factor is gleaming through without worrying about all the twists that this show has had in recent weeks.

A brilliant show- can it finish the week off in style?

The Biggest Loser Australia: Singles next airs Mar 22 at 7PM on TEN.

Production Values (visual and audio techniques, overall ‘bling’ of the show):5/5

‘Sell-out’ factor (Cross-promotion and product placement free?): 1.2/2

Entertainment Value (emotional feel, storyline, eventful?): 2.9/3

Courtney’s Verdict: 9.1/10
