To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Titanic’s sinking, The History Channel will premiere TITANIC MYSTERY SOLVED, an astonishing new special that sets out to answer one of the most haunting questions surrounding the legendary disaster: just how did the “unsinkable” ship break apart and plunge in to the icy water of the North Atlantic on April 15, 1912?
In a worldwide event in conjunction with HISTORY® in the US, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and RMS Titanic, Inc., TITANIC MYSTERY SOLVED examines the most extensive exploration and imaging of Titanic’s wreck site ever undertaken.
The undertaking reveals remarkable new facts and the first comprehensive map of the Titanic’s entire wreck site, which helps solve the century-old puzzle of what exactly went wrong.
In addition to the mapping of the entire site, TITANIC MYSTERY SOLVED will also reveal for the first time the complete picture of the breakup and sinking, by use of a virtual holograph reconstruction of the wreck site.
In the twenty-five years since the wreck was located, no one had ever explored the entire site – nearly half the area remained unseen and unknown – and now, after 100 years, every inch of the site is finally known.
In TITANIC MYSTERY SOLVED, viewers will see newly discovered pieces of the ship for the first time, follow the expedition’s new findings and will come to learn the definitive story of how the ship broke apart after the collision with the iceberg.
The special will answer the biggest question about the Titanic: did she have a fatal flaw? And if so, who or what was responsible?
