Grant Denyer is back to kick off auditions of Australia’s biggest and most unpredictable talent show.
Who will be unearthed as this country’s greatest undiscovered talent by impressing celebrity judges BRIAN MCFADDEN, DANNII MINOGUE, and KYLE SANDILANDS. Ultimately it’s Australia who will decide who will take home the massive grand prize of $250,000.
Tonight is the first night and the first contestant is -
Name – Mark Lowndes, 28 – stay at home dad
Talent – Singer/Musician – Original song
The crowd start clapping along straight away and he sounds fantastic, Dannii’s screaming – standing ovation.
Brian – He was scared, but his voice and performance was incredible. He could win the competition. YES
Dannii – Gets Marks kids n stage and thanks them for getting dad to audition. YES
Kyle – Says that he should be making money through selling records as is one of the best things he has seen. YES
Back at the auditions we have a group called Munroe who attempt to sing who get a resounding NO, as does a pianist who even gets booed, an air guitarist and a martial artists group also get NO’s
Name – Kookies N Kream, 14-18
Talent – Dance crew
Are really good. One of the best I have seen.
Brian – Costumes and vibe amazing. YES
Dannii – Awesome. YES
Kyle – You guys are brilliant. YES
Name – Loretta Rabbit, 54 and 6
Talent – Dog Trainer – A PINK poodle called Chloe!
The dog drives and barks along to Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” – it’s funny but she won’t go much further.
Brian – Loved It – YES
Dannii – WOW – YES
Kyle – Has alot of spare time on her hands he thinks. YES
A viloinist named Annabelle gets through, as does Liam an Irish dancer and Pete a yodeller.
Name – MINT26, 28-33 – Office Workers
Talent – Singers – “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz
Good I guess – nothing to write home about.
Brian – An absolute pleasure. YES
Dannii – A tight performance, fantastic. YES
Kyle – Everyone loved it, it was glorious to listen to, he loves that stuff more than anything. YES
Name – Pip, 25
Talent – Comedic Illusionist
This guy has tried to break in the industry for ages. I think he’s really funny and talented. His assistant “had” to leave as she was bored, so he uses a blow up doll that he turns back into his assistant.
Brian – Pretty funny guy and great illusion. YES
Dannii – Never had anything like that on the show. YES
Kyle – He thinks was great and wants the blow up doll. YES
Oh Dear! Time for the impersonators. We have Wendy,46 try Cher – bum cheeks and all. YES. Robbie tries Elvis and is terrible. NO!
Name – Sri Budayasari, 38
Talent – Singer – Tina Turners “Nutbush”
Hasn’t heard of “Nutbush” What the? Kyle tries to replicate it for him and is asked to do the dance by – but he doesn’t know it, so she says she will show him. Poor Brian is perplexed. She’s actually a good singer , but Kyle is scared that he’s going to be molested
Brian – Has no idea what just happened, Sri says she will teach him next time. NO
Dannii – If Brian will be taught next time – YES
Kyle – The crowd goes wild, he says YES
Name – Lane Cove Concert Band, 15-71
Talent – Community Band
These guys have come up with the concept of My Kitchen rules – The Musical. Kyle bzzes them out straight away – how rude! They use kitchen utensils along with the band to create there sound. It’s odd!
Brian – Ridiculous, NO! Dannii – Yes, Kyle – NOT a chance!
Name – Flair Action Sports, 21-24
Talent – Stunt Riders
On BMX bikes they do stunts that are AMAZING! Jumping over a girl, onto platforms and twist and flip. WOW! Standing O!
Brian – Can’t wait to see it again. YES
Dannii – Incredible never seen anything like it YES!!
Kyle – Lost for words – unfreakin’ believable. Most talented thing he has seen. YES
Danny Goyne is “Bongo Head” and plays music on his, well head! Not suprising that he’s unemployed. NO
Name – Odyssey, 11-35
Talent – Gymnasts
Very Cirque du Soleil and beautiful. It’s also very cheerleading with all the throwing of people – I loved it! Spinning, twisting, turning, flipping – it’s mesmerising.
All judges agree – YES. ALL LOVED IT!
Name – Anthony, – carpenter
Talent – Mindreader
They choose Anthony to do Kyle’s. He’s asked to draw something and Anthony will guess – and he’s right! Kyle is spooked as are Brian and Dannii – umm anyone think it’s a magic trick or illusion besides me?
YES, YES, YES!
Next for the story that has been harped on about all night – an overweight young man who was bullied called Cody. He was stereotyped due to his weight and noone wanted to see him sing.
Name – Cody Bell,18, Unemployed
Talent – Singer – “I’m a Man of Many Wishes” by Stevie Wonder
He’s awesome. He even sounds like Wonder. The crowd loves him and he is beautiful and so humble. He gets a standing ovation and I guess for such a hard past – I’m welling up!
Brian – Looked nervou and transformed when he sang – fears how good he will be – YES
Dannii – Very Good. YES
Kyle – Loved it, Beautiful. YES.
Australia’s Got Talent will air on Seven at 7.30pm and be recapped here. If anyone has advice on a better way to recap the auditions let me know! Must say I had never watched the show before and – I LOVED IT!
