Casting Call: I Will Survive

Network Ten and FremantleMedia Australia announces a brand new entertainment program I Will Survive, set to explode onto screens later this year, and  catapult one exceptional performer to Broadway.  I Will Survive is the search for Australia’s next Triple Threat – SINGER, DANCER. ACTOR.

TEN is putting the call out for male theatre performers from all walks of life – gifted in singing, dancing and acting – to audition. The very best will be invited to come on a road-trip of a lifetime through Australia’s breathtaking outback, ending in the bright lights of the Big Apple. This first series of  I Will Survive will draw on iconic movie and stage show Priscilla Queen Of The Desert as its theatrical backdrop.

From open auditions, the most talented individual performers will be chosen to jump onboard the famous Priscilla bus which will retrace the steps of the box-office smash movie, from Sydney to Alice Springs. The program will see amazing performances  from our contestants at each outback Australian location along the way under the direction of the best in the business.

Along this incredible ride our judges, mentors and  industry professionals will challenge, train and critique our finalists, with the field slowly being whittled down.

Our final four will be flown to New York City, where the famous musical has just celebrated its year anniversary on Broadway. There they will receive intensive training in the lead role of Tick, one of the toughest roles in theatre and a character made famous by Hugo Weaving in the original Aussie movie.

If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere, and for the last man standing it’s a golden opportunity to showcase their talents on Broadway and kick-start an international career.

Network Ten Chief Programming Officer, David Mott, said: “I Will Survive is an exciting prospect for TEN. This is big, broad family entertainment with the unique backdrop of iconic locations in our own backyard.”

“The format is one that has captured the imagination of critics and audiences alike overseas, and we’re thrilled to bring it to Australian viewers for the first time.”

FremantleMedia Australia Director of Television, Tim Clucas, said: “Although it ends up on Broadway, I Will Survive is so much more than a musical theatre casting show. The winner will have impressed our big name judges in every performance skill – singing, dancing and acting. They will be the ultimate performer. The entertainment world will be theirs for the taking whether it be television, live theatre or Hollywood.”

Auditions are open to all male performers 21years and older.
