In this landmark documentary David Hayman examines one of Britain’s most infamous and mysterious serial killers, Bible John, a murderer who is thought to have killed three women in Glasgow in the late 60s and who then seemingly disappeared.

This was a murder spree that has long cast a shadow over Glasgow and the nation. Using archive footage, drama reconstructions and interviews with experts and witnesses, we reopen the case on one of Britain’s most mysterious serial killers. In doing so we examine how the events unfolded, question the original detectives, learn about the police hunt in the 90s that led to a suspect’s exhumation, talk to criminologists who believe that Bible John John was a fiction that may have led to three murderer was a fiction that may have led to three murdererss escaping justice and examine an opposing theory that escaping justice and examine an opposing theory that lays the blame for the murders on a known serial killer who may have killed as many as 48 women.

This documentary will look beyond the murders, seeing how these killings created a culture shock and mass panic at the end of the summer of love, while also leading to a police force changing its tactics in order to confront a very modern monster.
